Dr.
Gibstein is always happy to answer your individual
questions concerning cosmetic surgery. The following
responses are designed to address questions frequently
asked by patients. Please contact with additional
questions or for more information.
1. What is cosmetic surgery?
Cosmetic surgery is a surgical specialty
that deals with improving the appearance of the
skin and soft tissues of the body. Although cosmetic
surgery usually refers to cosmetic plastic surgery
procedures such as liposuction, facelift, and
breast surgery, the term also can be used to refer
to nonsurgical procedures such as BOTOX® injections
and chemical peel.
2. Am I a candidate for
cosmetic surgery?
Many people are good candidates
for cosmetic surgery. Dr. Gibstein can help you
determine if a specific procedure is appropriate
for you or if you may be better served by an alternative.
In general, good candidates for cosmetic surgery
are in good health, understand the risks and benefits
about the procedure they are considering, and
have realistic expectations of anticipated results.
If you are interested in finding out whether or
not you are a candidate for a cosmetic surgery
procedure, please contact Dr. Gibstein today to
set up a consultation.
3. What procedures do you
offer?
Dr. Gibstein performs facelift,
forehead lift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, chin
augmentation, laser skin resurfacing, fat injection,
BOTOX® Cosmetic, breast augmentation, breast lift, breast
reduction, breast reconstruction, liposuction,
surgery for gynecomastia, abdominoplasty, and
procedures for the skin.
4. What is recovery like?
Recovery time varies, depending
on which procedure(s) you have and on your individual
case. Most patients need some help and lots of
rest for at least two days following surgery.
You might be able to go back to work anywhere
from a few days to a few weeks later. Again, this
depends on your body, your job, and your procedure.
In addition, it is important to be aware that
cosmetic surgery is generally considered safe,
but complications are possible with any surgical
procedure.
5. Is cosmetic surgery covered
by insurance?
Most insurance companies do
not cover cosmetic surgery. There may be a few
exceptions (e.g. breast reduction surgery done
to alleviate back pain). Although insurance does
not typically cover cosmetic procedures, Dr. Gibstein
and his staff want the benefits of cosmetic surgery
to be available to as many people as possible.
To that end, we offer several financing options
and will work with you to come up with an appropriate
payment plan.
